GRIEVING at the WELL

After losing my newborn baby sister, grief arrived way too early.  Then after losing my high school best-friend to cancer, and recently, after  watching my Mom unexpectedly pass away, I’ve become well acquainted with grief.  But even more, I’m learning to grieve well at the Well of His Word.

The following verses are like a welcome cup of water for other thirsty women who may be sitting at the Well with me.

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles.  And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfector of our faith. Heb. 12:1-2

This is my comfort in my affliction, that your promise gives me life. Psalms 119:50

For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us. Romans 8:18

If your law had not been my delight, I would have perished in my affliction. Psalms 119:92

But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. 1 Thessalonians 4:13

When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” 1 Corinthians 15:54-55

And the ransomed of the Lord shall return and come to Zion with singing; everlasting joy shall be upon their heads;  they shall obtain gladness and joy, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away. Isaiah 51:11

And I heard a voice from heaven saying, “Write this: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.” “Blessed indeed,” says the Spirit, “that they may rest from their labors, for their deeds follow them!” Revelation 14:13

He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” Revelation 21:4
